Plans to demolish a former pub in Stockport and replace it with a drive-thru Starbucks have been revealed. Planning permission is being sought to flatten the former Three Crowns pub in Heaton Norris to make way for the coffee shop.

Also known as Cosmopolitan and The Venue during its time as a working boozer, it closed for good in 2009 and has laid empty for at least nine years.

And the dilapidated building could soon be gone forever if the plans are given the green light. Owner and applicant the Axiel Group say in a statement supporting their application: "Terms have been agreed with Starbucks to occupy and operate the proposed unit subject to receipt of a satisfactory planning permission in accordance with their requirements."
