straight to your inbox Gael Clichy says he has been inspired to take up coaching after his playing career finishes after working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Clichy, 35, spent a season under Guardiola at the Etihad before Benjamin Mendy was signed in 2017. Clichy left for Istanbul Basaksehir, where he has just helped the Turkish side win their first-ever league title.
The former Arsenal man says he still hopes to continue playing for another two seasons, but then plans to go into coaching. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live's Euro Leagues Podcast, Clichy said: "I think I still have two years in the legs, but the years spent with Pep Guardiola made me want to become a coach. "I am going to give it a go because I love the way he conducts.
