THE Ford S-MAX Vignale proves beyond doubt that larger MPVs can be far from mundane and purely utilitarian. The hugely popular marque’s seven-seater people carrier in this high-end guise has sleek styling and comes packed with life’s motoring luxuries.
Moreover, my test car featured a clever 2.5-litre petrol engine hybrid system that delivers both power and fuel efficiency.Starting with the kerb appeal, the S-MAX features a flowing front end and profile with some elegant contours and a steeply raked windscreen.
A rising beltline and sturdy-looking rear give the car a sense of athletic dynamism. The Vignale, priced from £43,050 on the road, adds to this with a huge amount of chrome detailing, silver roof rails and 19in, 10-spoke, polished alloys.
I also admired the sculpted fog light bezels, large rear light clusters and chrome-finished dual tailpipes. The interior is awash with leather and other soft-touch trimmings and feels really solidly built.
