For 20 years, Zholia Alemi saw vulnerable patients under a false pretence - that she was a qualified psychiatrist. She lived a high-flying lifestyle, purchasing multiple properties, collecting expensive bottles of champagne and driving a red Lotus sports car.
But it was all based on a lie that unravelled when a carer reported concerns about Alemi's relationship with an elderly patient.
It was later revealed that Alemi had forged a fake will in the woman’s name - and forged the documents that opened the door to a lucrative and trusted career in psychiatry.
Last year, Alemi was jailed for seven years for offences around her fake medical career, having being found guilty of 13 counts of fraud, three counts of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception, two counts of forgery and two counts of using a false instrument after forging a medical degree certificate and practising as a psychiatrist without the necessary qualifications.
