An amateur footballer conned women he met on dating sites into opening betting accounts and stole hundreds of pounds from them to feed his gambling addiction.
Joseph Regan, a goalkeeper for Cardiff Corinthians FC, took more than £1,500 from his two victims and then tried to persuade them he had done nothing wrong.
The 22-year-old from Cardiff opened accounts with Bet365 in the two women's names and stole money from their bank accounts, Wales Online reports.
He threatened the first victim, who worked as a teacher, by saying saying he was going to turn up and her work and falsely claim she had an inappropriate relationship with him when he was 19.
