Two Ashton women have been fined by Tameside magistrates for flytipping household waste as Councillors blasted their actions.

Marie Fairhurst and Claire Butler dumped their rubbish in the street and an alleyway in their local neighbourhoods and ignored all correspondence from Tameside Council.

In court, Fairhurst initially denied the rubbish was hers before finally admitting to her actions. Butler failed to attend court.

Fairhurst of Whiteacre Road, Ashton, admitted on 23 September 2024 two counts of flytipping – one of the offences taking place on Russell Street and the other on Stanhope Street.
