‘Flora And Son’: Read The Screenplay For John Carney’s Latest Ode To The Power Of Music

Written and directed by Carney, whose credits include the song-centered Once, Begin Again and Sing Street, the film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where Apple Original Films jumped on it, scoring one of the fest’s splashiest acquisitions after an all-night bidding war.
It was Apple’s biggest deal in Park City since landing eventual Best Picture Oscar winner CODA in 2021. Flora and Son hit theaters in late September before launching on Apple TV+.
Hewson, the daughter of U2 frontman Bono, stars as a single mom in Dublin who looks to use a shared love of music to break through with her troubled teen son Max (Orén Kinlan), who is heading down the wrong side of the tracks.
