A new five-floor Sports Direct opens in the Arndale today — and includes high street fashion brands, an e-sports centre and a bra-fitting studio.
The new premises, which is 50,000 sq ft big, is the company’s third UK ‘flagship store’, after openings in London and Birmingham.
Dedicated areas have been set out for football, running — as well as specialist sports, plus menswear, womenswear, and kidswear.
It’s part of a push to make the firm ‘the number one sports retailer in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa’. That’s according to Chief Executive Michael Murray. READ MORE: Take a look around Greater Manchester's new IKEA store opening this week “Each new store opening is pivotal to the next phase of growth for the Group, as we continue to bring the very best brands, environment, product innovations, and experiences to the high street,” he added in a statement. “Manchester is a significant location for the Group, and we’re excited to be opening our next flagship in the city.” As well as the usual sports offering, this new store includes a running concept, customisation facilities, and a USC.
