The better Jadon Sancho does at Borussia Dortmund, the more questions asked of Manchester City's decision to allow him to leave in 2017.
In reality, City couldn't offer Sancho the first team football he desired, and at the time Sancho was not the player he has become.
City, Sancho and Dortmund can all claim to have done well out of the £8m transfer in hindsight. Sancho could command over £100m if he leaves Dortmund this year, though, so however much City may have been right to negotiate a transfer for their talented winger back in 2017, they will be reluctant to see many more repeats of players developing into world class talents away from the Etihad and earning another club money that could have been kept at the CFA.
