A first time mum claims her unborn baby saved her life after a deadly grapefruit-sized tumour was discovered during a scan. Rachel Bailey began bleeding when she was 21 weeks pregnant and was rushed down for an emergency scan to check on her baby.
Although the 28-year-old's baby was fine and healthy the scan doctors found a 6cm mass on Rachel's kidney during the scan. She was later diagnosed with a rare kidney cancer - with the tumour the size of a grapefruit - and she needed surgery to remove the mass in a bid to save her life.
The business owner knows she wouldn't have been diagnosed so quickly if he hadn't of been pregnant as she wouldn't have needed a ultrasound.
