First picture of Scots schoolgirl who died in suspected drugs tragedy

A schoolgirl who died at a property in Fife in a suspected drugs death has been named locally as Carly Kilpatrick.The 14-year-old Inverkeithing High School pupil took unwell at address in the town at around 2.45am on Monday, September 18.She was rushed to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, but was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say they are treating the youngster's death as "unexplained". A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a drugs offence.Hundreds of floral tributes have been left for the youngster at Inverkeithing High School after a vigil was organised in her memory at 5.30pm on Wednesday night.

Inverkeithing United Football Club also cancelled training on the same night out of respect for the keen young footballer. Carly played football for local team Bayside FC.Meanwhile a family member changed his profile picture to an image of Carly, with the caption: "Fly high my angel."Fife Council’s education manager Karen Lees said: “We are aware of the tragic and untimely death of a young person from Inverkeithing High School.“We are supporting the school community and in particular any pupils who knew this young person, providing space, time and help to those who might be impacted by this terrible event.”A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.45am on Monday, 18 September, 2023, officers were called to a report of a 14-year-old girl taking unwell within a property in Inverkeithing."Emergency services attended, and she was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
