First pic as Hearts fan dies after collapsing in the stand during Rangers clash

A Hearts fan has tragically passed away during the Edinburgh club's clash against Rangers FC.The medical emergency involving the supporter who was reportedly watching the game from the main stand, took place near the end of the home game on February 16.He has now been named by his devastated son Paul as Charles Stuart, aged 79.

He shared a statement on X, formerly Twitter, which reads: "Thank you all. It was my dad who sadly passed today at 79. Thank you to all the people that helped.

Rest in peace, Dad Charles Stuart, Love from his wife Sandra son Paul Muriel and his grandkids Darren, Laura and Emma."Eyewitnesses from Tynecastle reported how they saw the person collapse before they frantically tried to get the attention of stewards before CPR was carried out by a Rangers medic in a bid to save the man's life.

It is understood an ambulance also attended the scene. Tragically the club has confirmed he died at the stadium.A spokesperson for Heart of Midlothian said: "It is with great sadness that the club can confirm that a Hearts supporter tragically passed away at Tynecastle Park today."They added: "A medical incident occurred during the closing stages of this afternoon’s match, and despite the best efforts of the emergency medical services, the supporter could not be saved."The club would like to thank the medical services and safety stewards in attendance for their swift action.
