Tributes are pouring in for an 'inspirational' pensioner who 'touched the lives of so many' after an Aberdeenshire horror crash.

We told how Lily Cowie died after being hit by a car in James Street, Peterhead on Friday. Emergency crews were called to the scene, near Peterhead Harbour, at around 1.05pm.

The 77-year-old was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary via ambulance after being struck by the silver Hyundai. She died later than evening.News of Lily's tragic passing sparked a wave of tributes on social media.Public posts hailed Lily for 'contributing so much to her local community' through Guiding, the church and teaching.One wrote: "So sad to hear about Lily."She was a lovely lady."Another added: "I was devastated to hear this horrific news about Lily."She was a lovely woman."A third posted: "So sad, lovely lady."Another commented: "Lily was a wonderful lady who contributed so much to her local community."A real inspiration to many and she touched so many lives through Guiding, the Church and her teaching."A fifth wrote: "Lovely lady, thoughts are with her family."On Monday Lily's 'devastated' family released a statement thanking all those who 'helped at the scene' as well as the emergency services.It read: “We are all shocked and devastated at the outcome of this tragic incident but would like to extend our thanks to everyone who helped at the scene, the paramedics, air ambulance and medical and nursing teams at A+E and ICU."Your care and compassion was much appreciated.”Police expressed their condolences and maintained that their investigation into the incident is ongoing.Officers are urging witnesses, those with dash-cam footage or any other information to come forward.Sergeant Craig McNeil said: “Our thoughts
