Troon railway station are set to reopen on Friday - less than two weeks after a devastating fire. The ticket office on platform one was almost entirely burnt to the ground after the flames took hold on Saturday, July 17.

Emergency crews remained at the scene throughout the night as they battled to dampen down the raging inferno which sent a thick plume of black smoke into the air.

ScotRail users faced travel chaos as services were axed due to the extensive damage which also affected overhead power lines.But both platforms will be back in use for trains between Glasgow Central and Ayr as of July 30.The rail operator said: “We're pleased to advise both platforms at Troon will be open from tomorrow (30 July) and all ScotRail services between.
