Fire crews battle blaze at Glasgow high rise flats

Fire crews are battling a blaze that broke out at a block of high-flats in Glasgow this morning.Emergency services raced to the scene at Fernbank Street in Springburn just after 11am on Monday April 25 following reports of a fire.Once at the scene fire and rescue officers learned the blaze was located on the 10th floor, and they set about tackling the fire.Pictures taken of the building show thick smoke billowing out from the top of the building.Fire officers are still in attendance so far one casualty has been treated for smoke inhalation.Police Scotland are also at the scene as the rescue operation continues.One local online said: "Hope no one was in the house I live across from it and it looks really bad."The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Daily Record that they remained at the scene.A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.05am on Monday, April 25 to reports of a fire at a property at Fernbank Street, Glasgow.“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle to a fire affecting a flat on the 10 th floor of a multi-storey building.“One casualty received treatment for slight smoke inhalation and crews are still at the scene.”A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at a property on Fernbank Street in Glasgow shortly after 11.25am on Monday, 25 April.“Officers attended and have assisted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at the scene.”
