Film star Ben Barnes on his 'extraordinary adventure' that brings him to a Manchester stage next week

The last time film and TV star Ben Barnes was performing to an audience here in Manchester, it was 20 years ago and he was pretending to be in a rock band.

But this time around, he will be playing for real - showcasing his debut album with a live music show at New Century Hall. Back in 2005 Ben was in Manchester starring at the Royal Exchange Theatre's production of Sex, Chips and Rock 'n' Roll in one of his earliest professional acting roles.

Fast forward 20 years and he's a bona fide film star - with millions of followers on social media and a fervent fan base from those high profile roles in hit movies and TV smashes including The Chronicles of Narnia, Westworld and Dorian Gray.

We catch up with Ben over a zoom call to Canada, where he's been on the North American leg of his first full music tour. And he tells us that he's fulfilling a lifelong dream by launching his music career in his 40s.
