Fifty new council homes got the go-ahead at a former school site in Irvine.The terraced and semi-detached homes in Bourtreehill would offer two, three and four bedrooms.Bungalows and two storey houses will be up for grabs - as well as homes suitable for older people and those using wheelchairs.Solar panels on every property and 70 parking spaces are part of the plans for the Heatherstane Way social rental properties.There would also be a children’s play area.The North Ayrshire Council estate will be built on the demolished Towerlands Primary plot.A drainage basin will be surrounded by a fence to keep children and pets safe according to plans.
