80 seconds after Sergio Aguero had given the Blues the lead, Torres capitalised on hesitant Palace defending to bend a lovely effort in the corner.
It was a good all-round performance from the Spaniard, who scored his tenth of the season in an encouraging debut season following his £21m move from Valencia.
