ITV is standing by Ferne McCann as her “fat-shaming” fallout with long-time pal Sam Faiers rumbles on, new can exclusively reveal.
Sources said the news is a major boost for the 32-year-old, who has been under fire over a series of leaked voicenotes. Some viewers had urged ITV to axe Ferne’s hit reality show, First Time Mum, which features her four-year-old daughter Sunday.
One ranted, “I think the best thing would be to cancel her shows and cut all ties,” while another said, “ITV need to drop Ferne.” But ITV told new last week, “There are plans for the show to return next year.” And a source close to Ferne told us, “Ferne has relationships with lots of different brands and it’s been a comfort to her that they’re supporting her during a tough time.” News that ITV has her back will also come as a huge relief to mum Gill and fiancé, Lorri Haines, 30, who have been worried about the “devastated” star.
Ferne was accused of fat-shaming Sam, 31, in voicenotes leaked by an account called LucyMay195. The poster then disappeared but resurfaced under a new name, ladywhistledown195 – a nod to the fictional whistleblower in Netflix series Bridgerton.
