Fearne Cotton has just brought back one of the most iconic hair trends from decades gone by: crimping. And although it was part of a fancy dress costume, it seems like her fans are very much up for seeing a return of this retro style in 2022.Taking to Instagram, the 40 year old shared an 80s inspired look worn to a friend’s birthday party with her 3.8 million followers.
As well as her volumised and crimped blonde hair, Fearne paired her costume with pink eyeshadow and thick liner for an overall Madonna vibe. "I had forgotten how long it takes to crimp hair and seemingly now have repetitive strain injury in my right hand," she wrote in the pictures' caption. "Back in the 80s I used to crimp my fringe which looking back can only be commended," she continued, adding that her son Rex’s response was “mum, you look weird”.
A second post of Fearne and her retro beauty look is captioned, "Are we bringing back the crimp? Or are we bringing back the crimp?" – and fans were in fact all too eager to see the return of the style. "This post just unlocked a core memory of my Mum crimping my fringe on a regular basis at my request,” one follower joked. "Love a crimp…still have my BaByliss ones from way back!
Hair didn't need to be washed so much either as crimping gives it volume. Fabulous look!" another enthused. Meanwhile a third joined in on the reminiscing with, "Oh man crimpers, the memories" as a fourth gave their approval with "It's a yes from me".
