The latest statistics from Social Security Scotland show that at the end of July, some 93,880 people were in receipt of Adult Disability Payment (ADP)and of those, 42,620 were new applicants and 51,260 were existing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) case transfers.
A successful new claim for the devolved payment is worth the same amount as its Department for Work Pensions (DWP) counterpart.
This means people with a disability, long-term illness or physical or mental health condition could receive between £26.90 and £172.75 each week, which is paid every four weeks.
Social Security Scotland recently confirmed that it is taking an average of four months to process new claims for ADP and work is being done to reduce the journey time.
