Justice Secretary Dominic Raab has said it’s “fantastic” that the Chancellor has joined the Sunday Times Rich List. Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy have made the prestigious list for the first time with their joint £730 million fortune.
On Friday morning (20 May) the Sunday Times revealed they featured at 222 in the Rich List, driven by Ms Murty’s £690 million stake in Indian IT firm Infosys.
Mr Raab told Times Radio that Mr Sunak is a 'fantastic example' of someone who has been successful in business and who's 'coming to make a big impact in public service.' He said: “I think we want more of those people.
I think it’s fantastic that you’ve got someone of British-Indian origin, showing all people in our country that you can get to the top of politics."
