The "baffled" family of a missing teenager allegedly murdered by her mum and dad "hope the police have got it wrong" and the girl is found alive.
The Peterborough couple told Cambridgeshire police that she ran out of their car on July 18 as they reported her missing three days later.
Detectives last week launched a "no body" murder investigation and on Monday charged mum Sarah Walker, 37, and dad Scott Walker, 50, with murder.
The pair have nine children, including a six-month-old baby. Bernadette has been missing for eight weeks, and one of her aunts has said the family was left in shock after finding out the teen was allegedly killed by her parents.
