A family have 'lost everything' after a stray firework flew through their window and destroyed their home. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service raced to Pasture Road in Wirral just before 7pm on Sunday, October 30.
Three units attended the scene, where firefighters found a flat on fire just above The Lunch Pad café, the Liverpool Echo reports.
A neighbour said the woman living in the property, who did not wish to be identified, was sitting on the sofa when the firework was launched through her window, striking her on the neck before it "exploded".
The resident added it was "shocking that she isn't seriously injured". They also shared pictures of the property showing the extent of the damage, with the neighbour hoping that the shocking images can act as a deterrent to anyone thinking of buying their own fireworks. The woman said that fireworks have been a problem in the area for some time, with troublemakers aiming them at nearby flats.
