Parents of a baby born without a heartbeat have to take it in turn to sit with her due to strict coronavirus rules. Doctors had to fight for 35 minutes to save little Alessi Smith's life when she was born.
She is now severely brain damaged and is unable to cry, swallow or move by herself, Bristol Post reported. Parents Reagan Lewis and Mitch Smith, from Mangotsfield, South Gloucestershire, are desperate to spend every minute with Alessi that they can.
Due to rules put in place in order to keep infections low, the pair have to take it in turns to sit by their daughter. Reagan had a straightforward pregnancy but complications during birth resulted in her being rushed in for an emergency C-section, during which she was put to sleep.
