Extra accommodation plans for Sir Andy Murray hotel given green light

Cromlix House, the luxury hotel owned by Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim near Dunblane, has been given the green light for changes to the C-listed building to create more guest accommodation.Stirling Council has conditionally approved listed building consent for interior works at the venue.Bought by Kim and Andy Murray in 2013, the Victorian mansion was refurbished into a five star, 15 bedroomed hotel, blending together historical with modern luxury and offering everything from afternoon tea to tennis lessons.The latest works within the hotel include infill of an existing stair void at first floor level, removing a balustrade and making good a floor, removing a lower ground door to a stairwell and introducing hatched access for inspections and maintenance purposes.A former entrance door to the lounge from the hallway will also be reinstated at first floor level and four non-load bearing partition walls will be removed from the first floor.In their decision, council officials said the changes would allow for the introduction of new accommodation at first floor level and will remove access to a staircase ground floor level within the Victorian mansion house, which is set in a countryside location close to Dunblane.They added: “It benefits from many architectural features of merit, is set in extensive grounds and is surrounded by many associated buildings.“This proposal seeks consent to make internal changes to what is currently an area used as office space.“The first floor currently consists of office areas, a kitchen space, toilet and a shower room.
