Manchester City fans took Wednesday night’s defeat to West Ham in the Carabao Cup as a positive, hoping the team can now focus on winning the Champions League.
City have dominated the league cup in recent seasons, winning the last four editions of the tournament. But they couldn't make it fifth time lucky, going out on a penalty shootout after drawing 0-0 in normal time.
Phil Foden missed City's first spot-kick and Zack Steffen was unable to deny Said Benrahma as the Hammers made it five from five.
The loss to the Hammers on penalties is the first time City have lost in the competition since 2015, a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
