His wife Shona Walker told jurors the 41-year-old had repeatedly denied having an affair with Lauren. Shona, 38, and Walker had split in 2020 – but they had discussed reconciling and were due to go out for an anniversary meal on the night of the alleged murder.
However, that didn’t happen after the air traffic controller said he had been delayed cleaning a large “coffee stain” on his carpet.
He instead later brought back a takeaway – but left Shona’s home without eating anything. Walker, who played for Scotland as well as “briefly” for the Great Britain team, denies murdering 34-year-old Lauren as well as putting her in a large bag and planning to dispose of the body, the High Court in Glasgow was told.
