The 38-year-old is a free agent after leaving Sheffield United for the second time in his career this summer. Reports had suggested that Jagielka was due to link up with Wanderers in pre-season, but it was stressed this would only have been as a favour for the veteran to maintain his fitness as he looked for a new club.
Wanderers manager Ian Evatt confirmed that former Everton defender Jagielka only would have been at Bolton for fitness reasons and not for a trial or with a view to potentially signing the veteran.
