dailyrecord.co.ukA Dumbarton police officer turned blogger has told of his “disbelief” after scooping a top influencer award.John Robertson won the Influencer of the Year Lifestyle award at a glittering ceremony at the Radisson Red in Glasgow.The 37-year-old created The Everyday Man blog around 10 years ago, which covers everything from fashion to fitness and travel.John was working as a police officer at the time and told how he could never have foreseen how his life would go on to take an interesting new twist.He told the Lennox: “It was a completely unexpected career path because when I started doing it, the term influencer wasn’t really a term yet.“It was never my intention for my job to be an influencer per se, but it just organically happened.“Although I do love it, it was never my goal at first.“It has come full circle because I did media in university, then when I left, I wanted to become a TV producer, and I started working at the BBC, and I didn’t like it.“Then I left and started working in retail and then running an online retail store, which was my first foray into websites.“I quickly got bored of that and randomly joined the police.“That was never my end goal either, but more of a spur-of-the-moment thing.
I was in the police when I started the blog as a hobby.“Over the years, it has developed more of a structure and become more like an online magazine alongside my Instagram page.“It has been a full-time job for me for six years now.“I am very lucky to be in the position that I am, especially when you get so many amazing opportunities.
