Ex-cop gives positive Jay Slater statement after Tenerife search for missing Brit ends

More than two-and-a-half weeks have passed since 19-year-old Jay Slater disappeared in Tenerife, but his loved ones continue to cling on to the hope of finding him safe.

Now a former police officer has shared his belief that the missing teenager could still be alive in the rugged hills of Tenerife, stating that it's "certainly possible".

Jay, from Lancashire, disappeared during a holiday to the island with friends last month. Follow live updates here. The group had attended the three-day New Rave Generation festival before Jay headed to an Airbnb in the remote mountainous village of Masca with two new pals he'd met at the event in the early hours of June 17. It was at that point that Jay's phone battery died. He hasn't been heard from since, and, as of Sunday, June 30, Spanish police have called off the search, the Mirror reports.
