Gareth Edwards burst onto the film scene with the fantastic Monsters back in 2010. The low-budget, high emotional tale of a couple connecting during an alien occupation caught the attention of the big studios.
Edwards was quickly rushed into the corporation machine. He followed up Monsters in 2014 with a reboot of Godzilla before directing Star Wars prequel Rogue One in 2016.
After that the filmmaker took a well earned break, but returns this week with new sci-fi action epic, The Creator. Starring John David Washington and Madeleine Yuna Voyles, The Creator is set amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence.
Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself.
