Coronation Street actor Alex Bain - otherwise known as Corrie's Simon Barlow - is engaged to his fiancée Mollie Lockwood. And as we caught up with the loved-up pair in Manchester, Alex, 20, gave us the details about what their dreamy engagement consisted of when the star got down on one knee.
Firstly, Alex revealed that he and Mollie were celebrating their two-year anniversary with a romantic meal in Chester on October 4 last year. "We had a lovely meal, then went back to our hotel, took a couple of bottles of bubbly up to our room and watched the sunset from the balcony," Alex recalled. "That’s when I just asked her." He continued: "I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous!’ I was pretty certain she’d say yes, but I was still bricking it!" Mollie confessed she had a "tiny inkling" that Alex was going to propose on the night. "I did have a tiny inkling on the night that it could happen – just because it was such a special day in such a romantic place!" she shared. "And we’d spoken before about getting married and spending our lives together." Alex then told us that Mollie is "the right person" for him and has his "heart and soul", revealing he knew he wanted to marry her since the day they first met. "I’m a big believer in making that move as soon as you know it’s the right person, and I’ve known that Mollie is my person pretty much since the day we met," he shared.
