It's official - Olly Alexander will be representing the UK at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.The Years & Years singer broke the news to the nation during an equally exciting night, as he announced the secret while chatting to Claudia Winkleman at the Strictly Come Dancing final.
The 33 year old spoke to the host after the final three celebs, Ellie Leach - who went on to win the show - Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier danced for the last time with their respective partners ahead of the results. "I love Eurovision so much, it's a dream come true," Olly told Claudia, before adding: "I'm just so, so excited." Following the announcement, Olly released further information about the Eurovision Song Contest in a press release.
He said: "I really can't believe I'm going to be a part of such a special legacy and fly the flag for the UK in the gayest way possible. "I'm determined to give it everything I've got and put on an excellent and unforgettable performance for you all!" Elsewhere, he also took to Instagram to share the big news, dropping a Eurovision related carousel of images and footage.
One of the slides showed his reaction to being told he'd represent the UK, while another snap saw him in the studio with British producer Danny L Harle, which suggests he could be working on the track with Olly.
