Mika has been officially announced as one of the co-hosts for Eurovision 2022 in Turin, Italy. The British pop star had previously denied rumours he would be MCing proceedings, but it was confirmed yesterday (February 2) that Mika will form a hosting trio for the semi-finals and Grand Final with Laura Pausini and Alessandro Catelan.
Mika is a well-known name in Italy, where he currently resides on the judging panel for the Italian version of The X Factor.
The Eurovision hosts were unveiled together on-stage at the Sanremo Music Festival. "‘I’ve been watching [Eurovision] since I was a kid, the whole family would get together for the Grand Finals," Mika said in a statement. "Once a year, more than 40 countries share the same emotions, regardless of history or the political situation: music unites them.
It’s an exciting honour to be one of the masters of ceremony on these fantastic nights." Mika has claimed one Number 1 on both the Official Albums Chart and Official Singles Chart - with his debut album Life In Cartoon Motion and record-breaking single Grace Kelly.
