Perhaps the bleakest storyline of all revolves around the fate of Ashtray (Javon Walton), the ruthless adopted little brother of everyone’s favorite lovable dug dealer ().In the season 2 finale, which aired on February 27, Ash’s fate was almost certainly sealed: After a SWAT team invaded his house, the preteen barricaded himself in the bathroom and was shot after firing a gun at the police.
Walton spoke for a post-finale interview about whether or not this is truly the end for his character. “There’s definitely hope for Ashtray to still be alive,” Walton said. “Because if there’s somebody who could take a bullet in the show, it’s Ashtray.
Ashtray is one badass kid. He’s not playing around. I believe he has a shot about being around for season 3.”In the same interview, however, Walton recalled filming the bathtub sequence and referred to the moment as his “last time on set” in a way that feels pretty permanent. “It was pretty sad shooting that last scene because I knew that would be my last time on set, which sucks,” he continued. “I knew I was gonna miss everybody there….
