Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium has been nominated for a Best Landmark award alongside Warwick Castle. Nominees for the Remarkable Venue Awards, which celebrate the best museums and attractions in the UK, US, UAE, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain, were announced this morning (September 1).

The annual tourism awards are based on more than 1.1 million customer reviews of venues on Tiqets.com. Each region will be celebrated with individual winners for the Most Remarkable Venue, Best Attraction, Best Museum, Best Landmark and Best Onsite Experience awards. Built to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the Etihad Stadium is the tenth largest stadium in the UK. The £112 million building was taken over by Manchester City in 2013 and remains the fifth-largest stadium in the Premier League with a domestic football capacity of 53,400.

Over the years, the Etihad Stadium has hosted the 2008 UEFA Cup Final, England’s final group match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup and is also a popular venue for large music concerts and events.
