Esther Rantzen has said that she is self-isolating with her daughter amid the coronavirus pandemic. The 79-year-old appeared on This Morning today via video link from her home after deciding not to go on a cruise she had booked.

She told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "I should be on a cruise right now but I decided that it would be inappropriate if I got myself locked away." Esther said that she had decided that the "sensible" thing was to not go out and contact people by phone.

The presenter has managed to stock up after visiting her local food shop. Asked whether she was staying with anyone, she said: "I've got my daughter with me because she has health problems, she has ME...
