A recent episode of Escape to the Country saw a couple from the Isle of Wight hoping to relocate to Scotland, who were rather taken aback by one of the properties they viewed.

Michael and Maryan had opted to relocate and completely overhaul their lifestyle with both a new home and a new business, with the show following them on their adventure to Scotland. The couple had a rather sizeable budget of £650,000 and had a very specific 'wish list' which included a large plot of land, a bike store, and a workshop for their new mountain bike business. They also wanted three bedrooms, a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, and rather unusually, a grand staircase.

The first property viewed by the couple was a converted former school, which was located near Glenshee, Perth and Kinross. With five bedrooms and 0.75 acres of land inside the Cairngorms National Park, this was slightly over budget and was on the market for offers over £650,000.The next house was a property in the town of Grantown-on-Spey in the Highlands, and went slightly against show rules, with the show being titled 'Escape to the Country' and not 'Escape to the Town'.

Despite this, presenter, Jules Hudson thought the property was worth looking at as it was perfectly located for the couple's business.
