One of Coronation Street's original cast members, Ernst Walder, has died at the age of 94.The actor played the role of Ivan Cheveski, who was the son-in-law of Elsie Tanner in the hit soap opera.
He was also the boyfriend of the show's co-creator Tony Warren in the 1960s. According to metro.co.uk, he passed away on Monday 6 September last year, but it was not known until now.
Former writer of the cobbles show Daran Little took to Twitter to share his sadness over the loss after it was reported on Coronation Street Blog.
Sharing a photo, he wrote: "Very sad to read of the passing of dearest Ernst Walder. "Ernst used to send my sons chocolates every Christmas and was the loveliest man".
