Rangers could be handed a major boost after Erling Haaland blasted the Borussia Dortmund board over transfer pressure Giovanni van Bronckhorst will guide his side against Germans in the Europa League playoff round next month.

Norwegian ace Haaland scored a double in the 5-1 win over Freiburg to take his tally for the season to an incredible 26 goals in just 21 starts.

He's now netted 55 goals for Dortmund in just 50 Bundesliga starts. But he broke a self-imposed silence on constant transfer speculation linking him with £100 million moves to a host of Europe's elite clubs to complain that he's unhappy at being rushed into making a decision on a new contract by Dortmund.

And he's hinted he could leave this month ahead of playing against Rangers. He said: "In the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision."All I want to do is play football.

Man Utd fearing lucrative plans will be derailed as Cristiano Ronaldo could quit club
Manchester United fear losing Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the season will leave the club's plans to tour America in chaos.United bosses have been drawing up plans for Ralf Rangnick's squad to go to the United States in July on a pre-season tour.It will be the first time United have toured since 2019 due to the impact of the Covid pandemic.United favour the States because of the warm climate, superior training facilities and the chance to fulfil commercial commitments.A pre-season tour is worth up to £20m to United from revenue streams including sponsors, merchandising and gate receipts. But United know travelling to the States without Ronaldo would lessen the club's appeal - and have a serious impact on the value of them going across the Atlantic.Ronaldo has become disillusioned with life at Old Trafford following his return to the club from Juventus last summer in a £12m deal.United sacked Ole Gunner Solskjaer in November and find themselves languishing in seventh place in the table, a staggering 21 points behind leaders Manchester City.Ronaldo, 36, has the option to extend his United deal by 12 months in the summer, but is waiting to see what the team achieves between now and then and who replaces interim boss Rangnick, before deciding what to do.Incoming CEO Richard Arnold, who will succeed Ed Woodward at the start of next month, faces a losing battle to keep the Portuguese icon.Ronaldo spoke last week of his disappointment at how his return to Manchester had panned out, and made it clear he didn't go back to be in a team so far off the pace in the title race.Arnold, who has been credited with much of the club's recent commercial success, is desperate to keep Ronaldo and is hoping to hold talks with the former Real
Roberto Firmino's "filthy" flick to assist Diogo Jota goal sends Liverpool fans wild
Liverpool fans wild on social media. After a drab 0-0 draw at Anfield last week, the Reds scored the opening goal of the two-legged League Cup semi-final against Arsenal on Thursday evening. And without star man Mohamed Salah or midfield maestro Sadio Mane in the side, it was left to Roberto Firmino to provide the magic. The Reds no.9 has endured a frustrating time so far this season, often having to deputise for Jota in the lone striker role. But with Salah and Mane both away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the duo found themselves starting together for the third successive game.Though Firmino and Jota's link-up play fooled fans into thinking they'd been playing alongside one another for years.Dropping into midfield the Brazilian cushioned a cute first-time backheel into the path of Trent Alexander-Arnold who fed Jota down the left channel.Turning Takehiro Tomiyasu inside out, Jota cut inside to the edge of the area before applying a neat finish under Arsenal 'keeper Aaron Ramsdale. And while the finish was excellent, the flick from Firmino was on another level with fans marvelling at the Brazilain's wizardry on social media. How good was Roberto Firmino's flick? Let us know in the comments section."That’s filthy Firmino," said one supporter."That touch from Firmino in the build-up," commented another, alongside three fire emojis."Brilliant, direct, positive drive into the box but did you see that back heel assist from Firmino?" replied a third.Want to be on the ball with all of the latest football news?Well then sign up for the brilliant Daily Star football email newsletter! From the latest transfer news to the agenda-setting stories, get it all in your email inbox - don't miss a thing. It only takes a matter of seconds.Simply
