They add that he wishes to make De Jong a key cog in his rebuild although Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also watching closely.
Barcelona chiefs are reportedly split over whether they should sell De Jong, but a deal may be done soon if they ultimately decide to show him the door.
