Perhaps the most damning aspect of Manchester United's latest masterclass in self-humiliation is it's not really all that surprising anymore.

But here we are, two games into a Premier League season, and it might just be worse than ever. United may have made the right type of hire in the dugout for the first time in several years - a highly-regarded, modern coach with a track record of success in Erik ten Hag, one on an upward trajectory in his career as opposed to recruiting another of yesterday's men.
The Dutchman, however, has inherited a group of players who look fundamentally broken beyond repair. On paper, they should be nowhere near this bad.
