Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has appealed to Sir Jim Ratcliffe to abandon his plans to build a new stadium. Ratcliffe, who acquired a minority stake in the Red Devils earlier this year, wants bring the dilapidated Old Trafford up to date - either by a refurbishment or by constructing a brand new ground in its place, potentially costing up to £3billion, which would become the so-called 'Wembley of the North'.

United's home has been falling apart in recent years, with roof problems causing flooding when heavy rain hits Manchester, and fans have complained about the state of the stands, food facilities and toilets too.

Ratcliffe believes that supporters will support a push for a new stadium, but Cantona isn't so sure it's a good idea.
