The watchdog of firm operators behind a landfill site emitting a ‘horrific stench’ insists it continues to work closely to improve the situation.
Residents have reported the ‘awful’ smell from the Pilsworth South landfill site - situated next to the M66 between Bury and Heywood - for months.
Some residents have even reported sealing up windows and vents. The issue has been so bad that a petition of almost 4,000 people has now been signed calling for an intense investigation into the site which prompted a visit from mayor Andy Burnham who said it ‘took me aback’.
