Emmerdale aired another twist in the second part of the ITV soap's double-bill on Thursday night, as Jamie Tate was freed by police.
The character had just been arrested, after his guilt over the recent hit-and-run came to light. His lover Belle Dingle, who had been covering for him for weeks, was confirmed to be planning revenge against him.
Jamie was the driver who knocked down and almost killed Moira Dingle, Belle's sister-in-law, recently. She didn't tell her family and chose him over them - but it was all part of a plan to bring him down.
