Emmerdale airs concerning scenes next week, as teenager Sarah Sugden collapses at home after struggling for breath. The teen is left in a state as she grows anxious following the sudden passing of 18-year-old Leanna Cavanagh, while Sarah has had a long history of ill health since she was a child.
Sarah has been in and out of hospital since she was very young, battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses for most of her life.
In 2011, six-year-old Sarah was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Fanconi anaemia, and she needed a bone marrow transplant to save her life.
Later in the year, Sarah took a turn for the worse and began developing leukaemia. Her brother Jack was born that same month, and he proved to be a match.
