Emma Stone, who portrayed Bella Baxter in Poor Things, burst into tears as she took to the stage to receive an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.The Hollywood actress was completely stunned when it was revealed she had won the accolade and as she made her way onto the stage, she was horrified to discover her mint green dress was broken.
She asked for Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron to check her gown as she tried to hide the malfunction from the audience.
Emma, 35, began crying as she thanked director Yorgos Lanthimos for casting her in Poor Things before blaming Ryan Gosling for causing her dress to break.Emma said: "My dress is broken, I think it happened during I'm Just Ken." She appeared visibly overwhelmed and wept as she said: "I don't know what I'm saying.The other night I was panicking, as you can see it happens a lot, that something like this could happen. "I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member with every crew member who poured their love and care and their brilliance into the making of this film." After thanking her family, she saved her final thanks for "my daughter, who is going to be three in three days and who turned our whole lives technicolour".
She added: "I love you bigger than the whole sky my girl." Before exiting the stage, she said: "Don't look at the back of my dress.
