Eminem, with eight VMA nominations this year, will open the show on Wednesday from New York’s UBS Arena, MTV announced today.
The performance will mark the rapper’s first VMA appearances since a shared performance in Snoop Dogg in 2022. He made a surprise VMA appearance in 2012 during a Dr.
Dre and Snoop Dogg performance and, in his debut year of 1999, when he won a VMA for Best New Artist, he performed a medley of “Guilty Conscience” and “My Name Is.” Eminem last opened the VMAs in 2010 with a performance of “Not Afraid,” followed by a duet with Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie” The performance this Wednesday will be Eminem’s first TV appearance since from the recent release of his 12th studio LP The Death of Slim Shady.
His 8 nominations this year include Video of the Year and Best Hip-Hop. If he wins for one of his eight nominations, Eminem will be the most celebrated male artist in show history.
