Manchester United made the worst possible start to their second game of their pre-season preparations, falling 1-0 behind to Melbourne Victory with just five minutes on the clock.
Fresh from Tuesday's 4-0 win over Liverpool, United started on the front foot at Melbourne Cricket Ground, piling bodies forward in pursuit of an early goal.
However, the Reds were caught on the counter-attack by their Australian hosts, who hit the front early on through Chris Ikonomidis.
The Australian swept home from inside the box, converting Ben Folami's low cross first-time. It was a splendid move by the home side, started by the goalkeeper, but it highlighted United's defensive frailties, with Victor Lindelof failing to cut out the cross.
